According to the BP Statistical Review of World Energy 2022, total
global crude oil consumption in 2021 was 4.245 billion metric tons
(94.09 million bpd), up 5.342 million bpd from the year before.
Total global production was 4.221 billion metric tons (89.88 million
bpd), up 1.38 million bpd. In particular, in 2021 China consumed
718 million metric tons of oil and produced 199 million metric
tons, equaling a daily consumption level of 15.442 million barrels
and daily production level of 3.99 million barrels.
According to the January 2023 monthly report from the
Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), the
global daily demand for crude oil in 2022 was 99.55 million bpd.
The total supply from the non-OPEC countries was 65.61 million
bpd and the supply from OPEC countries was 28.89 million bpd.
