SSE has formulated the Measures of Shanghai Shipping 

Exchange for Termination of Indices, which stipulates 

that termination will be considered only when any of 

the following circumstances occurs: (1) there lacks data 

sources for index calculation, or the quality of available 

data sources is not high enough to support stable and 

accurate index calculation; (2) the index cannot reflect 

market reality due to any significant changes in market 

structure and other reasons; (3) there lacks sufficient 

samples; (4) any regular index review suggests the 

termination of the index; or (5) any applicable laws or 

regulations require the termination of the index or any 

other reasons.

As long as it is feasible, SSE should announce the 

termination of the index on its official website at least 

three months in advance and state the background and 

schedule for the termination. After the announcement, 

SSE should continue the daily maintenance, calculation, 

and publication of the index until the termination date.
