According to WBMS, the global refined copper import
in 2020 amounted to 9.26 million metric tons, down by
8.5% year-on-year. Top four importers were China, U.S.,
Germany, and Italy, altogether accounted for 69.43%
of the world’s total and were also the major copper
consumers globally.
In 2020, China took the lead in resuming work and
production despite the negative impact of COVID-19,
its import of refined copper increased significantly and
hit a new record. According to China Customs, import
of refined copper showed a 31.56% year-on-year
